The Evolution of an Idea

In the Keys
Hello friends, fans, and fellow painters!  I would like to share with you my newest studio fine art body paint piece titled "In the Keys: The Human Grand Piano".  I painted it at the Denver Body Art jam this past Superbowl Sunday which was exiting for me because the concept of it I had been working on for almost a month and i was also excited to paint one of my favorite models, Portia (I did my first ever full body paint on her back in 2008!!).  I also wanted to share with you how the idea evolved from a simple one, into a full scale fine art piece!

In the Keys

The first inspiration phase with this piece came when i was painting Tattoo Style Designs on guest at a New Years Eve party in Aspen, CO. A woman approached and asked for me to make up a design and that she was a musician, so I had in idea make her musician name "MUZ" spelled out so it made piano keys! Here's what i came up with!

MUZ

After going home and seeing the picture i knew i had to write MY OWN  name "Wiser" in piano keys and spent a day the following week drawing out my piano name graffiti piece! Heres what it looked like!

Then i decided that i was going to paint this on a wall, so was looking at grand pianos on the net for inspiration to incorporate this graffiti into a grand piano mural design, and upon looking at the structure of a grand piano i realized there was a body position/pose that would allow me to paint a model as a grand piano!! You all know how much i love disguising the body in my paint, so i had to try it!!

In the Keys

What makes this bodypainting "Graffiti Art" you might ask?  The piano keys are actually graffiti letters spelling my name!  After adding the piano legs and pedals in photoshop, I couldn't be more satisfied as this piece not only display a full body illusion, but it also has hidden graffiti!
